Death Valley Trip #1: Basin & Ranges
This past week was spent in the desert of Death Valley National Park.
This view is the road heading into the National Park. It shows the Basin & Ranges topography.
Wikipedia explains the basins are formed by "down-fallen blocks" of the earth surface as the valley spreads apart and the ranges are formed by "uplifted blocks," many that are tilted in varying directions along faults, creating beautiful patterns in the earths layers.
The next few days I will be posting my favorites.
