We have a lot of kites around here and not many peregrine falcons, but one morning last summer, I was standing on the porch and one swooped in about a foot from my face. He must have been moving at well over 100 mph. All I could do was flinch and duck. He grabbed one of the sparrows off the bird feeder and landed in the yard about 10 feet from me and ate it. He kept looking at me as if to say, "You got a problem with this?" I just watched and in a few minutes, he flew away. Never saw him again. He wasn't big, but he was deadly. Very impressive.
