2DPhotography > Dreaming of Flying

Went to Sauvie Island today to view the Raptor Road Tour. Sauvie Island is rich with wildlife and has been designated an Important Bird Area (IBA) due to all the nesting, migrating, and wintering birds. The Audubon Society was one of the sponsors and brought Finnegan the Peregrine Falcon from the Portland Wildlife Care Center. At the time I was photographing him, a large flock of geese flew overhead and, of course, Finnegan had to watch.

2DPhotography > Reflections on the Ocean

The ocean was so calm that you can see reflections of the clouds. The picture was taken from the top of Neahkahnie Mountain. The camera was pointed right into the sun with the polarizer on.

2DPhotography > Top of Neahkahnie Mountain

We walked this 3-mile round trip hike to the top of the mountain just to get our hiking legs back into shape. I was huffing and puffing my way up. The town below is Manzanita, and the river beyond is the Nehalem River.

2DPhotography > Grapes and Blueberries

Driving down the road, I thought this was a pretty January scene. Oregon is well known for its berries. The lines running away from us are grapes, and the bushes to the right of the farmhouse are blueberries. I think the bushes in front of the house are, too, but the color is slightly different. We'll have to drive by in the summer and see for sure.

2DPhotography > The Spruce Goose
Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum in McMinnville Oregon is the home of the HK-1 cargo-type flying boat named the Spruce Goose. A wingspan of 320 feet — 20 feet longer than a football field. It has eight massive engines with 17-foot propellers. It weighs 300,000 pounds. It's made of birch wood and only flew once.
