2DPhotography > Barnegat Lighthouse
Built 1857-58 by the Federal Lighthouse Board.
The height of the light above sea level is 165 feet. Barnegat Lighthouse was built as a 1st order light, and was originally equipped with a Fresnel lens.
2DPhotography > Cape Meares lighthouse, near Oceanside, Oregon. How often do you get to look down on a lighthouse? This sits 200 feet above the water, but you still walk down to it from the parking lot.

2DPhotography > The lighthouse at Cape Disappointment, Washington, across the Columbia River from Astoria, Oregon. It marks one of the most treacherous bars in the world: There are 234 identified ships that stranded, sank, or burned between 1725 and 1961 near the mouth of the river.

2DPhotography > Yaquina Head Lighthouse is one of the most popular lighthouses in the United States. Located at Newport, Oregon, it is very accessible. It stands 162 feet above sea level, and can be seen from ocean vessels as far away as 19 miles.
This was taken on a cold, foggy, February day, typical of winter on the Oregon coast.
2DPhotography > Cape Blanco is a spur that stretches one and a half miles off the Oregon Coast. At the end of it, Cape Blanco's lighthouse sits majestically on a 200-foot cliff. This was shot on a glorious August day; we'd been there the previous day and it was so foggy you couldn't see the lighthouse from 100 yards away, and cold and windy, too.
2DPhotography > This shot is looking straight into the Fresnel lens of the Cape Blanco lighthouse, near Port Orford on the southern Oregon coast. I had my back to the ocean, so the camera was pointed toward land. Notice that you can see the landscape inverted through the lens.
2DPhotography > This is the Coquille River Lighthouse, just north of Bandon on the southern Oregon coast.
