This week the Intel hiking club went to Dog Mountain in the Columbia Gorge on the Washington side. It's a difficult hike, with 2800 feet of elevation gain in under 3 miles, but well worth the effort when the wildflowers are in bloom.

2DPhotography > This is the view we saw about halfway up when we first emerged from the forest. The yellow cast to the meadows at the top is caused by the fact that they're full of Arrowleaf Balsamroot, the same flower you see in the foreground of this shot.

2DPhotography > This is what greeted us when we emerged into the upper meadow. It's almost a carpet of Arrowleaf Balsamroot. and yes, it really is this steep. Thank goodness for switchbacks.
