Angel's Rest - 8/8/09 : Our August 8 hike was to Angel's Rest, one of the more popular hikes in the Columbia Gorge. It's a 4.4 mile round trip with an elevation gain of a little over 1500 feet. It was a gray day and not very photogenic, but we salvaged a few good shots.

Eagle Creek - 6/20/09 : The Intel hiking club did a 12-mile hike along Eagle Creek in the Columbia River Gorge on June 20, all the way up to Tunnel Falls. It was a long hike, with about 1600 feet of elevation gain, but the waterfalls were worth it.

Dog Mountain 5/23/09 : This week the Intel hiking club went to Dog Mountain in the Columbia Gorge on the Washington side. It's a difficult hike, with 2800 feet of elevation gain in under 3 miles, but well worth the effort when the wildflowers are in bloom.

Silver Falls - 5/9/09 : This Saturday's hike took us to Silver Falls State Park, 26 miles east of Salem, OR. It was a perfect day for the hike: the day was warm and sunny, lots of wildflowers were in bloom, and we got there early enough so the sunshine didn't wipe out any opportunity to photograph the waterfalls.

Siouxon Creek : Siouxon Creek Trail is about 25 miles north-northeast of Portland/Vancouver, in southwest Washington. The hike is a very easy trek through beautiful open forest, with the creek never far from the trail.The waterfall that we always go to is only two miles from the trailhead, but more adventurous types can keep going farther to more waterfalls and a great view of Mt St Helens.

Trail Work : Saturday, May 16 there was a combined trail maintenance project along the Wilson River Trail. Members of the Intel Oregon hiking club joined PUMP (Portland United Mountain Pedalers) for a few hours of work on a beautiful Oregon spring day to make improvements to a 1/4 to 1/2 mile section of the trail.
