2DPhotography > 6/29/09: Portland has 8 bridges that cross its 2 rivers. In this photo, I am stuck on the Broadway bridge waiting for a grain ship to pass under. Good thing I had my camera. I got out of the car and took a photo of one of the other bridges, the Fremont Bridge, with the sunset behind it. -Deb
2DPhotography > 6/28/09: Florence Sand Dunes at Cleawox Lake in Honeyman State Park.

The edge of the sand looks blurry but it's due to the sand blowing hard. I was being sandblasted and trying to protect the camera as much as I could. I still have sand in my hair and ears. LOL -Deb
2DPhotography > 6/27/09 - Rocky Butte, Portland Oregon. The sunset was uninteresting so I decided to take the lights instead. -Deb

2DPhotography > 6/24/09: This is the final photo of the Eagle Creek/Tunnel Falls Hike. I've shown you the view looking out from the falls, looking at the falls, and now finally looking out from the tunnel. It was a bit drippy in there so I didn't dawdle. There may be a little bit of blur on the ferns as there was some movement from the breeze from the falls. I just happened to catch the person in front of me a little farther down the trail..

Life certainly is a journey. I am looking forward to the next one. :-) -Deb
2DPhotography > 06/22/09 - This photo is what I was seeing as Dennis took my photo. (see yesterday's post). The falls is called Tunnel Falls. It was named because a tunnel was blasted behind the falls "so the Eagle Creek Trail could pass through the otherwise insurmountable canyon."

If you follow the hikers, they are entering the tunnel, then with your eye, draw a level line across the falls where you will see the black tunnel opening on the other side.

The drop is about 60 feet to the splash pool below. The trail is about 3 feet wide and if you look closely you can see the cable hand rail that I had a hand on as I passed through this section.

The greens were such a beautiful lush color, the roar of the water was quite a thrill and the view was breathtaking.

See the entire hike Here

2DPhotography > 06/21/09 - Went on a 12 mile hike this weekend to Eagle Creek. Looking back, I see Dennis taking a photo of us: Jinny, Linda, and myself. As you can see, there is a cable that we were holding on to. This wasn't the time to be careless! A full gallery of photos of this lovely place is posted here -Deb
2DPhotography > 6-20-09 Evening Adventure

It was very interesting watching the process for getting a hot air balloon into the air. The envelope is spread out on the ground and a large fan fills it with air while the crew hold the opening open. Once the envelope is filled, someone jumped into the basket and turned on the burners. The heat caused the envelop to start rising. At this point there were many people controling the balloon as it rose. On the upper left, is one of the ropes that prevents the balloon from going past vertical and continuing back down to the ground on the other side. In addition the basket is tied to the bumper of a large van to keep it stable. This photo shows the crew holding and controling the basket while the burners fill the balloon with hot air.

I liked the lighting effect and thought the photo did a great job of telling the story. - Deb
2DPhotography > 06/19/09 - Up at 4am to take some photos at the Tigard Balloon Festival. The weather was not cooperating so we decided to return in the evening to see the NW Natural Night Glow. I wasn't disappointed and chose this photo of 2 inflated balloons. -Deb
