2DPhotography > Proxy Falls, McKenzie Pass Oregon and the start of a week long vacation
2DPhotography > This early morning shot shows an old lava flow on the old McKenzie Pass Road. Belknap Mt, the source, is in the upper right. Lava, like water, seeks the lowest point resulting in 2 islands. It is a harsh environment, the trees in the foreground are struggling to stay alive.
2DPhotography > If you go hiking with me and there is a huckleberry in my path, you will have to pardon me while I take a break and enjoy. This red variety was found on the McKenzie River below Sahalie Falls.
2DPhotography > Taken with 100mm macro lens. The sun was shining on several drops that caught my eye. In Dennis' August gallery he has posted a shot of me taking this picture.
2DPhotography > Paulina Falls, Newberry National Volcanic Monument
2DPhotography > In 1990, Newberry Crater became a National Volcanic Monument within Oregon. Within the 17-square mile caldera are 2 alpine lakes and lava flow. From Paulina Peak (7985 ft.) you get an outstanding view inside the caldera, which is at the summit of a 500 square mile volcano. The volcano remains very active, both seismically and geothermally, to this day. Geologists believe the caldera sits over a shallow magma body only 2-5 kilometers deep.
2DPhotography > Watchful One: Crater Lake, Oregon. There is a log that has fallen on the crater wall that has a shape of a lizard with antlers. (Something out of a Dr. Seuss book, no doubt) He is watching. Since the view is so spectacular, I wanted to stay and join him.
2DPhotography > Crater Lake National Park. Llao Rock 8049ft is the highest part of the rim hidden in the clouds.
2DPhotography > A bit of snow remaining near Skell Channel between Wizard Island (6490ft)and the Rim wall. The body of water directly between the two arms of Wizard Island is called Fumarole Bay.
